As my former employer (see below) abandoned the Market Area, I saw an opportunity to better serve Frederick area clients and started my own company . I am responsible for the daily operations, planning/design, including resource allocation to meet client schedules as well as management of the project teams and support teams working with my clients. My daily focus continues to be on clients, profitability, billing, preparation of budgets, business development, sales, client relationships, staff mentoring, technology development, management of and participation in technical production, collections, business planning, as well as technical guidance and quality control for all aspects of our work (Planning and Engineering). I have managed all types’ projects (public/private, residential/commercial) and staff from 5 to 35 employees.

Senior Associate, Frederick Operations

As Senior Associate of the Frederick Operations I was responsible for the planning/design and surveying within the Frederick Market Area. Due to the economic times and the political climate in the Frederick area our firm relocated the Frederick Maryland office design and survey staff to our Rockville office. We maintained an office in Frederick from which I continued the marketing operations for the Frederick Team. Prior to this reorganization I was the General Manager of the Frederick office. Until the relocation I was responsible for the daily operations, including resource allocation to meet client schedules as well as management of the project teams and support teams in the office. I was also responsible for the management of some of the land development projects.

Department Head, Land Development Engineering

As Department Head I was responsible for the management of projects, clients, and staff for the land development department including profitability, billing preparation of budgets, business development (Federal, State, County, District and Municipal), sales, client relationships, staff mentoring, technology development, management of and participation in technical production, collections, business planning, as well as technical guidance and quality control for all aspects of work within my responsibility. I had a staff of 10 to 15 employees, (~ $1,000,000 annual income (design fees)). The work included coordination of teaming efforts for projects involving other offices and other consulting engineers.

Intrawest Resort Development
Copper Mountain, Colorado, 2000 to 2002

Development Manager Infrastructure and Planning

As Development Manager I was responsible for the planning and implementation of various projects for the re-development of the Copper Mountain ski resort. My duties took projects from concept into reality. I was responsible for all aspects of the projects including; establishing the development team, planning, design, construction, marketing, sales, warranty and close out, managing the development process including communicating with the review agencies, development and maintenance of budgets and pro-formas, contractor selection and management, deficiencies/warranty issues, progress and financial reporting, tenant coordination and communication, effective “turn over”. Development projects included the design and construction of “The Lewis Ranch at Copper” a ski-in ski-out gated community, Beeler Place reconstruction and various highway projects. Planning projects included the update a sign guideline for the resort, and various PUD reports such as employee housing, water quality and parking.
